Sincere House-Mong Kok. Itinerarios

Sincere house (1965), a post-wars building (WWII and Chinese Civil War) of 13 storeys in the center of Mong Kok, one of the most congested neighborhoods of Hong Kong.
Its perimeter, that faces some of the main commercial streets of the area, is a permeable showcase, there is no facade. Real estate ads, neon signs, concert and club posters, currency exchange offices, steamed noodles, people ... In the center of one of the sides, a great access to labyrinth. Cellphone shops, phone covers, repair stations, a world of colored rectangular pixels; on the second floor, where we access through a noisy escalator, we find more kinds of shops such as doll shops, second hand clothes, manga toys... And on the third floor some sex shop, in addition to the ones on the lower floors. We also discover closed spaces waiting for some intrepid new entrepreneur trying fortune in one of these old commercial buildings whose future is not looking very encouraging. 8000HKD (about 1000 USD) to rent one of these small cubicles of no more than 5 sqm. A few scattered vending machines and a hard-to-access fire stair define the common spaces for vendors.
Now we go back to the street and walk around the plot until we reach a door with a sign that reads "Sincere House". We access to the upper floors (4-13) through a tiny lobby. If there is a building that represents mixed-use, it is this one (and many of its contemporary neighbors). We access to each level by climbing a decadent staircase or by entering a metallic elevator that will take us to an outdoor corridor in which many doors unfold offering us access to very different places: a recording studio, a darts room, a Muay Thai gym , a café, several hostels, apartments, manicure services, alternative doctors ...The old signs are interspersed with neon lights, the evening that tries to enter through the groove of the floor of the building U shape, a door that opens and releases the sound of rock drums, a young Chinese girl just arriving holding a baby in her arms while dragging a large suitcase, a fist kicking a boxing bag, a smile of a young woman in the cafe with red lights ...
