Yick Shiu Industrial Building.
Given the bad conditions of the building, I bet it was among the first buildings constructed in the industrial zone of Tuen Mun back in the 70s. Tuen Mun, together with Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin, was chosen to be one of the three first new towns of Hong Kong.
It is true that from my seat, I can see all of that: in the background are the very typical housing towers, orange with green windows developed by Sinogroup, a bit closer are some industrial buildings, on the right side are the police station and the firestation. The brand new V City mall is absent from my field of view by almost nothing.
Tuen has evolved a lot since the year I first know it when I started working here in 2008, and in 9 years, my company had to move to a new office 4 times...pretty much at the end of every lease contract. Indeed, the price of the square meter kept rising year after year. These changes bring new opportunities to Tuen Mun. The residents are now probably of a higher social class than the previous generation, the housings get fancier, hotels and malls are being built to meet the new demands.
